time to buy a real truck not a silverado - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
By cjk - December 25 - 10:33 pmThis was at first a good truck at 67,000 miles when the transmission went out on me the dealer told me I need a new transmission this is not good for gm I just go back and forth to work. No towing no plowing so gm said they will not help do. Dont buy gm trucks

More motor! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
By JERRY - February 27 - 10:26 pmTruck is comfortable, roomy and above average to drive. Power and mileage are awful! The 6.0L is terrible. My last truck had a 5.3. I thought the 6.0 would be better. Wrong. Chevy should junk this motor. All around 11 mpg. Towing 24 boat, 8 mpg. Either a diesel or a Titan is next.

Good truck but problems - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
By mars - June 25 - 9:00 amOverall the truck has been good. But 5 injectors and drivers seat adjust mech (under warranty, but still truck is down) instrument panel cluster is a joke. Whole companies are devoted to rebuilding IPC on all makes. So once again truck is down while you get to pay $500 for a rebuilt defective IPC. (GM has announced they will pay for this but we have seen no money). OnStar was good for unlocking doors and diagnosing ground faults on several glow plugs. Once the "free" runs out it is easier to hide an extra key. OSs peace of mind comes at a cost. If you can afford an expensive truck then be prepared for expensive upkeep. It is a good and powerful work truck

Warrning!! Watch out for this truck - 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
By Carney - July 31 - 2:00 am71,000 miles the transfer case (NVG246) electronic shifting developed 3 holes. Cost to repair $1400. Rear brakes ruined fluid contamination. Truck is highway driven only, no off road, or heavy towing. Transfer case is poorly designed and built to fail. Internal oil pump wiggles and wears holes in the case. Repair shop said they see A LOT(!) of this. Replacement parts are the same as the old ones GM and New Ventures response, “out of warranty YOUR problem”! Nice response for a truck that coast $31,000 new.
